Getting to Sydney after Entering Cape Breton
Driving via ‘Old Route 4’ Old Highway 4 is a stunning drive with more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie novel. Stops along Highway 4 include scenic look offs, wonderful villages such as Saint Peter’s, and of course Rita’s Tea Room in Big Pond owned by Cape Breton’s ambassador of song, Rita McNeil. Follow the signs for Sydney. At the end of Highway 125, exit right toward Glace Bay for CBU (approximately 5 km), exit left for downtown Sydney.
Driving via ‘Trans Canada Highway’ The newer TransCanada Highway (Route 105) takes travelers through the village of Baddeck (home of the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and birthplace of aviation in Canada), across Kelly’s mountain, and past the scenic beauty of the Bras D’Or lakes. Follow the signs for Sydney. At the end of Highway 125, exit right toward Glace Bay for CBU (approximately 5 km), exit left for downtown Sydney.
