For the second time this year, Canada’s number one Island, Unama’ki, played host to athletes and fans from across the country. For four days, eight of Canada’s top soccer teams squared off at the Ness Timmons Field in Sydney, Nova Scotia for the USports Men’s Soccer Championship. Some came following historic wins, while others came looking for redemption. And all were welcome by Cape Breton’s famous hospitality.
For some in attendance, it was an introduction to CBU’s fierce caper spirit. For others, it was a homecoming and a chance to cheer on the next generation of champions. And for those competing, it was a chance to show their outstanding athleticism, years of determination and perseverance. Each team that took the pitch is worthy of celebration. As are the Capers fans who showed the strength of our Island community.
