We are just over half-way through the program for this year, with 7 of the 11 scheduled challenges completed and are well underway with our closing conference planning. This June 3rd and 4th the In.Business Northern region will be celebrating the completion of the first year in this region and the completion of the Coast-to-Coast-to-Coast national expansion of the In.Business mentorship program across Canada.
June 3rd 2016 or Day 1 of the closing conference will have all students dropped off or transported to the Canada Games Centre by 4pm. The Canada Games Centre is a multi-sport facility that will be set up for our fully-catered evening reception with opening remarks from Premier Darrell Pasloski, Chief Kristina Kane, Dr. Keith Brown, as well as others. After dinner wraps up, we have organized a few ice breakers and other team-based activities, like Nerf War and Dodge-ball in an indoor turf-field with obstacles (it really will be as cool as it sounds!). After the team activities, the City of Whitehorse has kindly donated wristbands to all students allowing access to the full facility, with the options of accessing the swimming pool and water slides area or drop-in Basketball. The bus will pick everyone up from the Canada Games Centre at 8:45pm to take them to the hotel for snacks/refreshments and some optional evening activities.
June 4th 2016 or Day 2 will begin at 8am with the bus taking all students to the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre on the river bank of the beautiful Yukon River. The Multi-Purpose room will host the final day of the closing conference. Here we will have breakfast with a keynote, participate in a workshop, a “60 Second Sell” video challenge, a team event called “Building Bridges”, the Purdy Awards ceremony, and tons of fun activities and entertainment!
