Verschuren Centre

The Verschuren Centre is committed to finding creative, evidence-based solutions to issues that will define the next century:

  • using cleaner energy, and
  • managing our environment

By contributing to the global research base in these areas Verschuren Centre is protecting our natural world, while clearly defining the opportunities that arise as we shift towards a greener economy.

Located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, home to world-class natural resources and Canada’s most aggressive climate change laws, the Centre is positioned not simply to contribute to this research, but to lead it.

Verschuren Centre faculty, staff and students draw inspiration from a collaborative approach to research, a highly international campus population, Nova Scotia’s coastal beauty, and the Centre’s design: one of the most sustainable university lab facilities in Canada.

Annette Verschuren “Verschuren Centre is about building the knowledge-based economy of Atlantic Canada’s future and developing the type of innovative technology that will transform Canada into an energy and environmental powerhouse.”
