Requirements

MARKET RESEARCH ANALYST

Dr. Heather Sparling, the Canada Research Chair in Musical Traditions, invites applications for the position of Market Research Analyst. The successful candidate will conduct a market analysis and feasibility study for a Gaelic song dictionary mobile app.

Required Qualifications:

  • must be a current MBA student, recent MBA graduate, or someone with appropriate experience and equivalent credentials (all things being equal, preference will be given to current CBU students);
  • ability to work independently;
  • strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills;
  • strong writing and communication skills.

Desirable Assets:

  • interest and/or expertise in preserving heritage and culture;
  • interest and/or expertise in social enterprise;
  • knowledge of the Gaelic language.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • weekly meetings with Dr. Sparling;
  • identifying potential business models;
  • listing any similar existing apps, along with their strengths and weaknesses;
  • locating a potential market/audience globally;
  • designing and circulating a questionnaire to identify desirable features;
  • conducting follow-up interviews with select questionnaire respondents;
  • price testing;
  • full, written analysis (using Canvas model);
  • drafting an Innovation Mobilization Fund application.

Application Details

Although the weekly work schedule will be flexible, a final written analysis and report MUST be completed by December 15, 2016. The successful applicant will be expected to work approximately 10-15 hours/week and meet weekly with Dr. Sparling to report on progress on a timeline negotiated at the beginning of employment.
