Job/Project Description:

The Research Assistant would work on a number of tasks with Professor Tracey Harris related to research on the Tiny House Movement.  They would be responsible for locating news stories, blogs, and videos on the movement and entering this data into a qualitative methods software package.  They would also have the opportunity to engage in preliminary thematic analysis of the data.

Responsibilities

Tasks:

Retrieving news articles, blog sites,  and YouTube videos on the Tiny House Movement

Entering data into qualitative analysis software, ATLAS.ti

Completing preliminary thematic analysis

 

Responsibilities:

Locate relevant news articles, blogs and videos online

Entering qualitative data into software package

Develop a competency in using qualitative software

 

Student Qualifications:

 

Above the first year of study.

Completion of introductory course in Sociology and Qualitative Research Methods a definite asset.

Preference given to those with an interest in environmental sociology and/or social movements.

End Date:  Mid-December

Hours:  All positions are part time, hours TBD
