CBU Work Study Bursary Program – Research & Program Assistant – Job Number 2015F015

Requirements

Job/Project Description:  The Research and Program Assistant would work on a number of projects with Dr. Dechman related to drug use and youth-based programming.  They would have an opportunity to be involved in the full process of community-based research, from the negotiation and development of research questions, to the transcription, entry, and analysis of the findings.  In addition, they would be engaged in locating materials to be used in a cooperative study program pertaining to social and personal well-being and flourishing.

Responsibilities

Tasks:
Attending research meetings

Entering questionnaire data

Transcribing interviews

Searching for YouTube videos and other materials that can make academic concepts related to social and personal flourishing more engaging and accessible to general public

Participation in cooperative study group, if interested

Responsibilities:

Accurately enter interview and questionnaire-based information

Become competent in using by qualitative and quantitative software

Locate engaging materials related to social and personal flourishing

Student Qualifications:

In second or third year of study at CBU.  Completion of introductory course in Sociology and an interest in majoring in Sociology.  Preference will be given to candidates who have a particular interest in addictions and/or youth work.

Hours:  All positions are part time, hours TBD
