Job/Project Description: Project Assistant

The successful student would work on the Animal Ethics Project and report to a Political Science faculty member from the Department of Communities and Connections.  The project creates educational opportunities about animal advocacy and environmental stewardship.  The successful candidate would be responsible for updating the project’s existing website, doing research on and posting related advocacy materials and educational opportunities to social media, and assisting with event planning related to an upcoming guest speaker and a future conference on the broad themes of animal ethics and environmental sustainability.

Tasks:

  • Website & social media updates
  • Assist with event planning, including logistics work and researching funding opportunities
  • Researching educational  and advocacy opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Above first year of study
  • Preference will be given to students with some knowledge or deep interest in animal advocacy and/or environmental sustainability
  • Knowledge of web design and research skills a definite asset

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Update existing website as needed
  • Post animal ethics project events, advocacy, and educational opportunities to social media
  • Aid with event planning such as coordinating speakers, finding appropriate information on funding opportunities, and helping with event promotion
  • Research into appropriate educational resources and curriculum related specifically to animal advocacy and more broadly to issues of environmental sustainability
  • Research on Canadian practices related to animal ethics and advocacy

Hours:  All positions are part-time, hours TBD
