Job/Project Description: Assistant Conference Organizer

The student will be an integral part of the Science Atlantic Conference for Psychology planning team. This large undergraduate conference will take place at CBU in May of 2017 and students and faculty from 15 Universities will attend. The roles over the fall and winter months will include fundraising coordinator, food and venue coordinator, and other conference planning duties.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer an upper level psychology student
  • Strong writing and Word skills
  • Comfortable asking for donations
  • Good customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Well-organized

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Creating the sponsorship options package
  • Contacting sponsors
  • Collecting sponsor logos and materials for website and promotions
  • Providing contact information to Treasurer to invoice sponsors
  • Thanking sponsors
  • Recording contacted sponsors (positive and declined) to provide to future conference organizers
  • Negotiating and booking hotel rooms and meeting rooms
  • Creating floor plans/room assignments for meetings
  • Negotiating and booking catering

Hours:  All positions are part-time, hours TBD
