We are excited to offer a student placement in our Strategic Operations, Renewable Generation and Power Marketing, which is located in Toronto, Ontario.

We are searching for an enthusiastic Commerce student who has completed a minimum of 2 year(s) and will be returning to university or college (full time) upon completion of this work term or requires one final work term to graduate.

Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualification:

  • Understanding of the electricity sector.
  • Strong research skills, strategic and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This placement may involve some travel.  A valid “G2” driver’s license is required.  Ready access to a vehicle would be an asset.

Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you may have the opportunity to assist in a variety of work assignments which may include:

  • Analysis of economic regulations in North America as they apply to hydroelectric generation utilities.  Support regulatory proceedings, as required.
  • Develop process for managing various contracts and agreements executed by the Partnership and Joint Venture entities.
  • Identify initiatives to improve economic efficiency of regulated and contracted electricity generation assets.
  • Analysis and assessment about changes in regulatory framework that affects the financial performance of regulated and contracted generation assets.
  • Analysis and monitoring performance of investment in regulated and contracted generation assets.

This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Understanding of the electricity sector including the electricity market and regulatory environment.
  • Understanding the operation of hydroelectric and thermal generation assets.
  • Understanding of governance of venture entities.
  • Understanding the management of commercial and economic aspects of contracted and regulated generation assets.
