Cooperative Education Student (Temporary) Position
Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for the temporary cooperative education student position of Client Services Specialist in the Business Services Division of Planning and Development, Halifax Regional Municipality.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
 Currently enrolled in a Business, Public Administration or Business Administration program, or a related field.
 Experience managing administrative and technical projects/functions, with focus on results, is considered an asset.

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:
 Demonstrated facilitation, collaboration, consulting, consensus-building, and interpersonal skills.
 Demonstrated understanding of the need for high degree of confidentiality and discretion.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Client Services Specialist (CSS) Co-op Student provides skills in client outreach, facilitation, employee engagement, conflict-resolution, public relations and communications. The CSS will assist with the implementation of client-centered service delivery models to enhance and improve services. The intern will assist in developing training and programs in support of enhancing relationships with clients. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:
 Communicating with, and actively collecting input from clients through a variety of mechanisms (surveys, personal contact, etc.);
 Using collected input to more effectively anticipate and define client needs;
 Demonstrating sensitivity to diversity and inclusiveness, and promoting an outward-facing client centric culture;
 Working to ensure programs and services employ a variety of client centric approaches for optimal service accessibility to meet client needs;
 Examining operations and procedures, and identifying new service delivery models in accordance with client needs;
 Formulating policy and assisting with implementing and measuring performance of service delivery models in consultation with the Business Analysts and Program Managers;
 Monitoring current and future internal and external trends to identify long term impacts and opportunities;
 Assisting with mobilizing and coordinating resources to deliver client centric results;
 Ensuring client service standards are defined and understood;
 Drawing upon the expertise and experience of other areas to ensure the most efficient and effective means for identifying and solving client issues;
 Building collaborative relationships to gain information in order to achieve business goals;
 Communicating effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing, at various levels on complex, sensitive matters with an ability to bring conflicting points of view to consensus;
 Fostering trust, cooperation and mutual agreement;
 Promoting and working to eliminate cross-department or branch/work unit/individual barriers and to facilitate collaboration;
 Working to establish a network of collaborative relationships for the delivery of programs and services to meet strategic and corporate objectives.

HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, 35 hours/week
SALARY: Unionized Position, $20.00/hour
WORK LOCATION: 2nd Floor, 40 Alderney Drive, Dartmouth
