The Canadian Coast Guard College (CCGC) is a world leader in the field of maritime studies and the national training centre for the Canadian Coast Guard.  A key program is the Canadian Coast Guard Officer Training Program.  This is a four-year training program and is considered one of the best marine training programs in the world, producing both Marine Engineering Officers and Marine Navigation Officers.

The CCGC has a unique opportunity for an intern to assist with the marketing and recruitment of the Officer Training Program.  We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with an interest in post-secondary recruitment.  The successful applicant will work with our recruitment team in the implementation of a recruitment plan for the 2017 intake of the CCG Officer Training Program.  As a national, bilingual recruitment campaign, the college participates in a number of recruitment activities including: education fairs, high school visits, CEGEP visits and community events across Canada.  This will be a unique opportunity to enhance marketing skills and to also develop an understanding and build experience working within the public sector.

Essential Qualifications:

Students must be enrolled in a co-op program with a specialization in marketing.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of post-secondary recruitment.

Knowledge of the Canadian Coast Guard College.

Abilities:

Ability to communicate verbally.

Ability to communicate in writing (cover letter will be used to assess this qualification)

Assets:

Experience in an academic or government setting would be an asset.

Ability to communicate in French would be an asset.

Duties:

Assist in the implementation of a recruitment plan for the Canadian Coast Guard Officer Training Program.   The recruitment goals for the college are to broaden awareness of the college and the Officer Training Program and to increase the number of qualified applicants to the program.

Assist with the preparation of promotional material and presentations for recruitment events.

Represent the Canadian Coast Guard College at recruiting events.

Assist in the development of marketing opportunities using social media channels.

Respond to inquiries from potential applicants.

Prepare and compile reports and statistical information relating to various recruitment events.
