BACS STUDENTS ONLY – COMS STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

Requirements

COMS Student Representative:

Act as a liaison between the COMS Department and BACS students, the COMS Society, CBUSU and other representative student bodies on campus, as needed.

Qualifications:
The student should be in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a BACS degree and should be knowledgeable about the COMS pedagogy and wish to engage collaboratively with the department faculty.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Attend meetings of the COMS Department, and if unable to attend provide comments on the agenda and previous minutes as circulated beforehand.

Develop and maintain a COMS social media presence using sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat in order to increase communication with students and the community at large. This will be a collaborative effort based on CBU guidelines and faculty input.

Host at least one event per term, open to students in all BACS degrees, where they can: a) hear what’s going on in the COMS department, and b) share their ideas of success or challenges within the program. These events will be supported by the Department in terms of food/drink, etc.

Respond to requests, as needed, where student input is required for BACS degree or COMS course development.

End Date: Apr. 30th, 2016
Hours per week: max 10 hr/wk
Stipend: $750, payable in April. Stipend will be paid upon fulfillment of responsibilities as assessed by the supervisor.
