Job/Project Description: Promotion Assistant – BASE
The Bachelor of Arts and Science, Environment (BASE), is a new degree program coming to CBU in Fall 2017. This program will combine the university’s strengths in sciences and the humanities with a focus on environmental issues. The program is fresh off the presses and much work needs to be done in preparation for our 2017 launch. Over the next year we have to prepare promotional materials, keep active on social media, and do outreach to local and (virtually) national highschools. We would like to hire a student to help us think through and execute these activities. We are looking for someone with strong writing skills, social media savvy, and a passion for environmental issues. Depending on the student’s strengths, the jobs could be more research-oriented or more public. The successful student would have the opportunity to work with CBU’s Marketing and Communications offices.
Help develop copy (ideas and writing) for BASE promotional materials. Help promote the program virtually and in-person. This could involve visiting local highschools (alongside the program leads) and connecting virtually with students across Canada and the globe. Research support could involve identifying comparable programs and tracking their promotional and outreach plans. Administrative support could involve assisting with Dropbox filing or assisting with paperwork. Training will be provided where necessary.
The ideal candidate for this position would be a student who could see themselves taking the BASE degree, and someone who is active in the student community. Students with an interest in environmental issues from any disciplinary background are preferred. Students with some research or work experience preferred.
The student will be responsible for attending bi-weekly meetings (designed around the student’s class schedule) and other meetings where pertinent. The student may also work in concert with the Mar-Com department at CBU. Most of this work can be done at the student’s own pace from home or elsewhere on campus.
Start Date: September 19
End Date: December 2016
Hours: All positions are part-time, hours TBD
