Women in Science Event
Last year in honour of the International Year of Chemistry and Mme Currie 100th Anniversary of her Nobel Prize, we hosted a Women in Science “Lunch and Learn” event. The event was a huge success, attracting over 50 young women from all over Cape Breton Island, and initiating requests for a follow up event.
This year, we have expanded the Women in Science Lunch to a daylong Women in Science Retreat.
The main audience for the event is junior and high-school/early university aged young women with an interest in the sciences.
Where: Centre for Sustainable Energy and the Environment (CSEE) on Cape Breton University Campus.
When: March 31st beginning with a lunch followed by several sessions, a full afternoon of events.
Cost: None. Fees are being covered by the Women in Science and Engineering NSERC Chair - Atlantic Region.
Registration is now full (spaces were limited to 140 participants).
Perks: Meeting female scientists, learning more about careers and science, and getting a neat take-away bag.
A basis in science opens variety of careers.... and there are future opportunities in the sciences in Cape Breton!
