Professors Emeriti & Senior Scholars

Professor Emeritus is an honorific appointment bestowed upon retirement to faculty who have exceptionally distinguished themselves in addition to completing 20 years of service and attaining the rank of Full Professor.

This is a high honour by the institution, bestowed with the recommendation of colleagues and accepted by the appointee. The following Professors Emeriti have provided many academic and research contributions which have proven valuable both to this institution and the wider community:

Senior Scholars

A Senior Scholar is an individual who has retired from a full-time academic appointment, or from a reduced academic appointment at Cape Breton University, normally holds no other academic appointment at the University and wishes to continue or engage in active research and scholarship at the University. Senior Scholars shall normally be appointed for an initial term not exceeding five years and may be reappointed for successive terms, each term not to exceed five years. Applications for this status are made via the School Dean, to the Dean of Research, who forwards them to the President for consideration.
