Industry Liaison within the Office of Research and Graduate Studies
The Industry Liaison Officer assists researchers in exploring opportunities for early and mature research through industrial collaborations, Intellectual Property protection, commercialization and funding. Additionally, the ILO helps researchers facilitate research opportunities with companies for the purposes of attracting additional collaborative research funds, developing contract research and exploring licensing of university based technologies.
Some of the assistance that you can access from the ILO includes:

Non Disclosure and Collaborative Research Agreements,
- Funding for the continued development of emerging technologies, new processes and research projects,
- Assisting with industry collaboration / commercial research proposals,
- Accessing funding which assists in intellectual property protection / commercialization of jointly developed technologies,
- Facilitating Industry introductions / connections,
- Assisting with commercialization of research including licensing or royalty sharing agreements,
- Assisting with finding commercial partners for further technology development or licensing,
- Assisting with contracts between CBU researchers, other universities and external commercial partners,
- Drafting of various IP documents.
There are various funds available to assist you with moving your research forward including programs through the Springboard Industry Mobilization Fund, Innovacorp Early Stage Commercialization Fund , various NSERC programs, Economic and Rural Development and others. Innovation Mobilization Applications
The Springboard Innovation Mobilization Program shall provide service to all Springboard members concerning the advisement and advancement of knowledge transfer in any form be it a push or pull type activity and the support for industry engagement. The goal is to advance as many technologies as possible and to mobilize the knowledge /skill-based expertise resident in member institutions into industry, in order to help industry engage with researchers and commercialize institutional opportunities.
