Cape Breton University Hosts Incoming Scholarship Recipients

On Saturday, April 25 Cape Breton University played host to incoming students from across Atlantic Canada who had received scholarship offers at the fifth annual Scholastic Excellence Reception. The event attracted more than 60 students, along with their parents/guardians. Students in attendance have been offered some of the over $1.7 million in scholarships for students entering in 2015-2016.

The event provided incoming students who have received a scholarship offer the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, students and alumni to discuss their upcoming program beginning in September, 2015.

Students were treated to a wonderful welcome from President Dr. David Wheeler who encouraged the high school students to make the most of their experience in the coming years both inside and outside the classroom. A special certificate presentation was made to the students marking their scholastic achievement.

Graduating Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) student Keisha Cuff, who maintained her President’s Scholarship over her four years of study, provided students with advice on how to make the most of their undergraduate studies. Her key messages were to get involved, speak with professors and staff if ever experiencing any problems, and most importantly work hard and have fun.
