J & K Scientific Receives Innovacorp Award

Last month, Innovacorp recognized J & K Scientific as the zone 5 (Victoria, Cape Breton, Inverness and Richmond counties) winner of the 2011-12 I-3 Technology Start-Up Competition.  The I-3 Competition is designed to find and support high potential early stage Nova Scotia knowledge-based companies, and encourage entrepreneurial activity across the province.  The $100,000 prize package includes $70,000 in cash and $30,000 of in-kind access to a variety of business services. 

J & K Scientific has developed a valuable research relationship with CBU’s chemistry faculty and students as well as the Office of Research and Graduate Studies and CBU’s Small Business Development Centre.  Most recently, upon their $15,000 Productivity and Innovation Voucher award, J & K Scientific selected CBU as their service provider of choice enabling further engagement with the chemistry department.  A strong supporter of CBU students; the company currently employs two CBU graduates with plans to add another in the very near future.  Krishnat Naikwadi, the founder and driving force behind J & K Scientific, is an adjunct professor in the chemistry department.

J & K Scientific produces gas chromatography columns that offer better performance at a much lower cost than similar products on the market.
