The Cape Breton University Art Gallery will open an exciting new exhibition titled Saturday Night/Sunday Morning: Wake Up to New Art on Friday, August 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibit will run until October 3 and features over 60 new works of art by 18 regional members of Visual Arts Nova Scotia.
In the exhibitions, the artists have responded to the concept Saturday Night/Sunday Morning in a myriad of ways – ranging from detailed, figurative explorations of Saturday night and Sunday morning behaviour, to abstracted renderings of the sacred and secular.
"This is a great opportunity for the public to take in some of the artistic talent that we have here on Cape Breton Island,” says Laura Schneider, Curator, CBU Art Gallery. “Some of the
artists in the exhibition have really stretched themselves to move their practice into new territory.”
The exhibit will include work by Kenny Boone, Basma Kavanagh, Carol Kennedy and more. The event is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring their own instrument to join in on the jam session.
