Local Authors Appearing Weekly Leading Up To Christmas

Seven Cape Breton authors will be reading from their work at Coles bookstore in Sydney in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Every Thursday evening, between November 18 and December 16, Coles will feature Cape Breton University Press published authors who will read from their latest books and be available to sign copies.

The promotion is in conjunction with the recent launch of a holiday book-buying guide distributed by Atlantic Books Today. Several of the featured authors’ books appear in the magazine and the holiday flyer.

“Books make great gifts,” says Coles’s Mayflower Mall outlet manager Paula Stewart. “This is an opportunity to have these popular books personalized by the author. There are more local books than ever, and we are pleased to work with CBU Press to focus attention on some of the newer and more popular ones.”

The hour-long appearances will include a brief reading from the book in a designated area at the entrance to the store and the authors will then be available to sign copies of their books.

The schedule is as follows:

Nov. 18, 7 p.m. – Daniel Doucet (Elizabeth LeFort: Canada’s Artist in Wool L’artiste canadienne de la laine)

Nov. 25, 7 p.m. – D.C. (Donna) Troicuk (Loose Pearls and Other Stories)
