CBU Promotes Safety With Tomorrow’s Leaders

CBU’s Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) is participating in the North American Occupational Safety & Health (NAOSH) Week May 4 to 11, 2011. The NAOSH slogan is “Health and Safety: a Commitment for Life!” What better way to do this than by taking safety to our leaders of tomorrow – the children in CBU's daycare.

Safety is important at work and home. Public Health students Jacqueline Brown and Brittainy Paige took safety to the CBU Daycare Centre by presenting a fun and important message to the children – “Playing safe at home and in our playground”. Each child was then asked to turn that important message into a poster.

An important of NAOSH safety week is working together to increase our understanding of safety. JOHSC was joined by Graham Iddon, Gallery & Collections Technician at the Cape Breton University Art Gallery, who created a slide show of the children’s art work. The posters will be on display in front of the Boardmore Theatre from May 4 to 10. If you can’t visit the display in person, you can see the slideshow at www.youtube.com/capebretonu.
