The Boardmore Theatre will raise the curtain for three family-friendly plays for the 2014 installment of Plays for the Whole Family! This year’s plays include Jelly Belly Makes Garbage Delight of Alligator Pie, The Lonely Leprechaun and The Tortoise and the Hare.
Jelly Belly Makes Garbage Delight of Alligator Pie is the story of three street kids who live together in a city dumpster playing games, singing songs and making up rhymes to pass the time as winter slowly moves in.
“Jelly Belly Makes Garbage Delight of Alligator Pie arranges the poems of Dennis Lee to create a fast paced, interactive theatrical experience for children of all ages,” says Todd Hiscock, director of the Boardmore Playhouse. “The production will include projected images, a complex sound-scape, and incredible performances by some of Boardmore Theatre’s most talented young actors.”
The incredible performances will continue with The Lonely Leprechaun. The story of Sally, a young girl who writes by candlelight only to have her muse appear as Sandy, the lonely leprechaun. Sandy desperately needs Sally's help to find his friends, so they can keep the world green.
“Boardmore Theatre’s Family Series is once again very pleased to include The Maritime Marionettes and their production of The Lonely Leprechaun,” adds Hiscock. “Based on the rave reviews from last year, it was an easy decision to invite the troupe back to the Boardmore this year.”
The third featured play is a modern, and weird, adaptation of The Tortoise and The Hare presented by Weirdbeard Theatre Troupe and written by Joanie Cunningham and Bernadette Borden.
Tickets are available at the CBU Playhouse Box Office or by calling (902) 563-1652. The Box Office is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and one hour before show time.
