Cape Breton University Board of Governors Appoints Acting President

Last evening, the Cape Breton University Board of Governors appointed Vice President Academic & Provost, Dale Keefe, as Acting President. The appointment comes as the Board voted to conduct an independent investigation regarding governance issues involving the President. The President has been placed on leave of absence with pay pending the outcome of the investigation which is expected to be delivered within the next month.

As stewards responsible for ensuring the management and operation of Cape Breton University’s administrative and academic actions, the Board of Governors takes this duty very seriously and did not make these decisions lightly. As Chair of the Board, I am confident these decisions are in the best interest of the University. The Board of Governors is committed to allowing due process and procedural fairness as the investigation proceeds. As such, I’m unable to speak further on this matter and will wait for the findings to be delivered.
