Nation2Nation Speaker Series: Indigenizing the University
In June 2015, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its executive summary and calls for action. Several of the 94 recommendations for moving forward with reconciliation were aimed at institutions of higher education, calling on universities across the country to incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing, Indigenous knowledge holders, and Indigenous cultures and traditions into all aspects of learning. Yet, How can we effectively Indigenize the curriculum and the university?
Join us for an engaging panel discussion, dialogue, an debate on Indigenizing the University to see how we can move forward to meet these calls at Cape Breton University.
The Nation2Nation Indigenous Speaker Series is a new monthly event hosted by Unama’ki College and the Institute for Intercultural Health Research, bringing together Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to foster space where co-learning through respectful relations can flourish amongst Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Unama’ki (Cape Breton)
