Created in 1980 by Cape Breton University and Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site of Canada, the Louisbourg Institute brings together professors, researchers, teachers, and students who share a common passion for education, research, and the Fortress of Louisbourg – home to one of North America’s largest 18th-century historical reconstructions and one of its richest archeological records.
Through a wide range of collaborative projects, the Institute makes the wonders of Fortress Louisbourg accessible to the widest possible audience, encourages innovation and excellence in teaching and research, and enhances the learning experiences of students of all ages.
This site contains information on CBU courses, research aids along with information on the Fortress of Louisbourg.
