Mission Statement

The Jennifer Keeping AccessAbility Centre at Cape Breton University serves to provide support and services to academically qualified students with disabilities. Its primary purpose is to assist in providing equal access to educational resources, facilities and opportunities to its students by removing educational and environmental barriers that prevent or limit students with disabilities from achieving their goals and from participating in a post-secondary setting. The Centre aims to assist students to overcome these challenges, both academically and personally, in order to ensure a healthy and friendly university career throughout their studies.

What does the Centre offer?

The Centre offers a variety of individualized services to accommodate its students. Some of the services provided are as follows:

Who is eligible for these services?

Any student with a documented disability is eligible for these services. These include students with:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Visual disabilities
  • Hearing disabilities
  • Speech Impairments
  • Neurological disabilities
  • Mobility Impairments
  • Psychological disorders
  • Chronic illnesses

* Documentation must be provided by a qualified health practitioner in order to receive these services.
