How to get to Sydney:
The easiest way to get to Sydney is through J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport (YQY) http://sydneyairport.ca
Canada’s two major airlines both service Sydney.
- Air Canada (http://www.aircanada.com); year round through both Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
- West Jet (http://www.westjet.com); year round through Halifax (YHZ) and seasonally in the summer through Toronto (YYZ)
In addition, Maritime Bus (http://maritimebus.com) connects downtown Sydney with many locations across Atlantic Canada, including a daily service from downtown Halifax and Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ).
Once you arrive in Sydney (downtown or airport), a taxi to Cape Breton University is the easiest option. Several companies offer taxi services in the area and can be contacted once you arrive at the Airport. Several rental car agencies also have offices at the Sydney airport.
For international visitors, please visit the Canadian Government website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/) before you plan your travel to ensure you’re aware of any visa requirements.
