CBU Global

CBU Global is a new entity formed by Cape Breton University to provide strategic and tactical support for the university’s internationalization efforts. Almost 900 students from 41 countries have chosen to study at CBU this year. Campus is also home to 73 ExxonMobil trainees from Papua New Guinea (PNG) as part of a 12-month Advanced Skills Training Program led by LearnCorp International (LCI).

In addition to the cultural diversity on campus and our global student recruitment success, CBU has seen our outreach span a wide spectrum, from the mobilization of customized training programs on five continents for clients such as ExxonMobil, through our leadership in LearnCorp International, and to important faculty research and humanitarian projects from Colombia to Zambia.

Quality academic pursuits range from our unique MBA in Community Economic Development to the vibrant Canadian International College in Cairo where we offer undergraduate degrees in partnership with CIC in Business & Engineering. CBU has nurtured, developed and maintained excellent relationships in China for many years, via cultural, educational and business ventures. Hosting visiting lecturers, developing new markets and identifying new educational and training partnerships are all exciting components of CBU’s internationalization and goals of CBU Global. A significant investment in infrastructure and expertise on Campus in Sydney, NS, helps expand our horizons at home and abroad, specifically through the Centre for Sustainability in Energy and the Environment, the Centre for Cape Breton Studies, and the Centre for International Studies, to name just a few. It is through these centres that we strengthen local-global interrelationships.
