Occupational Health And Safety

Cape Breton University is committed to the prevention of illness and injury, the promotion of the health and safety of its employees, and the protection of its employees from hazards through the provision and maintenance of healthy and safe conditions on its campus.

This University meets its responsibilities for health and safety by adhering to the principles of the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) provided for in legislation, to relevant health and safety standards and legislative requirements. The University will assist general and specific responsibilities for workplace health and safety enforcement of safe work procedures.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for ensuring that all employees know their rights and are properly trained to work in their respective departments and/or positions.
