Cape Breton University is committed to the prevention of illness and injury, the promotion of the health and safety of its employees, and the protection of its employees from hazards through the provision and maintenance of healthy and safe conditions on its campus.
This University will meet its responsibilities for health and safety by adhering to the principles of the Internal Responsibility System provided for in legislation, to relevant health and safety standards and legislative requirement. The University will assist general and specific responsibilities for workplace health and safety enforcement of safe work procedures.
The Human Resources Department is responsible for ensuring that all employees know their rights and are properly trained to work in their respective departments and/or positions.

Any employee who feels there is a need for training is encouraged to submit a training suggestion form. If there is enough demand or interest the training may be offered. If any particular department or group would like training, the safety officer can be contacted for additional information at 563 -1800.
