Student Employment – Cross Country Ski Instructors

Requirements

Two part-time Instructors are being sought to provide instruction and to manage and maintain equipment for a four week learn-to-ski opportunity in February and March 2016. The program will run from 4:00-6:30 pm Wednesday evenings. Equipment will be supplied and Instructors will provide basic instruction and monitor equipment. Instruction will take place on both Seaview and Lingan Golf Courses in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. The target population is grade four students and their families.

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with adults and children from the target population.
  • NCCP Coaching Certification for cross country skiing or equivalent experience. The certification or experience should be equivalent to the Introduction to Community Coaching or Community Coaching level.
  • Training or certification in the Canadian Sport for Life – Long term Athlete Development Model.
  • Previous experience as a participant volunteer or leader in the Cross Country Canada, Bunnyrabbit, Jackrabbit, Track Attack or Racing Rocks Program.
  • Knowledge and experience with cross country ski maintenance and preparation.

Rate of pay – $12.80/hour
