Sustainable Community Business Conference
Sustainable Community Business Conference
July 13-15, 2011
Cape Breton University
Shannon School of Business
The Community Economic Development (CED) and Tompkins Institutes of Cape Breton University are dedicated to advancing community capacity in innovation and sustainability, and we are pleased to organize a multidisciplinary conference on Sustainable Community Business. It is directly related to CBU’s MBA in Community Economic Development program and our core values and strengths.
This conference brings together practitioners, researchers, and community organizations, from home and afar, to discuss current practices, challenges, and emerging trends in community business, social enterprises, and economic development. Participation in the Sustainable Community Business conference is open to managers, entrepreneurs, directors, policy makers, academics, and anyone interested in community business, development, and sustainability.
The conference is designed to offer learning, inspiration, and critical understanding. We are fortunate that Inazio Irizar of Mondragon cooperative & University of Mondragon (Spain), Ray Hudson of Durham University (UK), and Colin Mason of University of Strathclyde (UK), will be joining us and will be making inspiring keynote addresses on competing internationally, on regional economic development, and on access to finance. In addition to several CBU professors and researchers, the conference includes a few other interesting presenters from government and NGOs, from Canada, USA, Latin America, UK, and Europe.
We are keeping the conference cost low, and the low conference fee includes a Surf & Turf dinner event by the harbour.
Please email us at confer2011@cbu.ca for any additional information or request related to your participation in the conference.
