The Association for Literature, Environment and Culture in Canada, in conjunction with Cape Breton University, invites you to our inaugural conference in beautiful Cape Breton. The conference will investigate the current state of communities and meditate on things as they might be: how might humans live sustainably in an ecological community? Activities will include academic papers, workshops, literary readings, roundtables and field trips to sites of ecological and cultural interest. Visit our conference schedule and download the registration form for more details. We welcome all participants including writers, academics, and individuals passionate about the environmental arts and humanities.
While you’re here, consider extending your stay to enjoy hiking in the Highlands, immersing yourself in history, shopping along the Cabot Trail, discovering inner peace and venturing out on the water. Check About Cape Breton for information about transportation and accommodations, as well as other adventures that await you on the island.
