Our Engineering Department

Engineering is all around us. Driving across a bridge, Making a telephone call, drilling for oil or flying in a plane is all the result of the work of engineers. Engineering offers many exciting opportunities in a wide variety of disciplines world-wide. Engineers shape the future with new designs and technologies and prove every day that anything is possible.

The CBU Engineering Department is responsible for delivery of the Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Transfer Diploma. Completion of this program at CBU leads to the final portion of the BEng Program at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS.

Degree Program

Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Transfer Program – Engineering Diploma) (36 credits; 2 Years)

CBU, like most universities in Nova Scotia, is an Associate University within the Dalhousie University Engineering System. As such we deliver the first two years of the 4 year BEng program. Completion of this program at CBU leads to the final portion of the BEng Program at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS.

– Disciplines Available are: Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical and Mineral Resources.

Admission Requirements:

High School Graduates: five grade 12 advanced or academic courses including English and Mathematics, and two other sciences (Physics is recommended); with an overall average of at least 65%.

Post-Secondary Students: Admission considerations and transfer credit assessments are available on an individual basis in consultation with the CBU Registrar’s Office. Feel free to inquire about the possibilities for advancing your career.

BSc jointly with Engineering Diploma

A three-year BSc degree in Mathematics or Chemistry can be combined with the Engineering program, enabling the student to earn two degrees (BSc and BEng) in five years of study, three at CBU and two at Dalhousie. Please consult with department chair for details.
