This degree program combines theoretical principles with technical expertise related to petroleum recovery and production activities. Aspects emphasized include Drilling, Reservoir Engineering, Processing, as well as Petroleum Codes & Specifications. The program is available in a 3 Year format:

  • The BET Degree in Electronics & Controls with the *Diploma: (102 credits; 3 Years)

*Students wishing to start their careers early may choose to Graduate with the Petroleum Engineering Technology Diploma after successfully completing Year 2.

*Students successfully completing the program to the Diploma Level or beyond may apply for National Certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) through TechNOVA (formerly known as the Society for Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Nova Scotia).

Admission Requirements 

High School Graduates: Five grade 12 advanced or academic courses including English and Mathematics, and two other sciences (Physics is recommended); with an overall average of at least 65%.
Diploma/Degree Graduates: Applicants with an eligible university Science or Engineering degree may be considered for admission with advanced standing, allowing for the completion of the program in as little as one calendar year. As well, CBU has articulation agreements with many colleges across Canada which provides for immediate advanced standing in the BET (Petroleum) program for graduates of eligible technology diplomas from these institutions allowing them to complete the program in as little as one academic year.
