The past 2 years have been quite busy for John McGrath, as he played both student and teacher roles. John is currently a Program Coordinator as well as an instructor at Georgian College, Barrie, Ontario, and has spent the past 2 years completing the Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree at Cape Breton University.
John says he has taken a number of courses to upgrade his education, but had never completed a formal degree, which was a goal of his. Determined to achieve this goal, John enrolled at CBU and transferred credits from his previous studies, with the plan to complete his studies via distance. “CBU’s distance education program was very attractive in that their articulation agreement with different colleges allowed me to complete a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Manufacturing) degree after completing 10 additional University level courses through distance education,” says John. “The lessons, readings and assignments were well laid out and easy to follow. I was able to still enjoy my life while studying and I got back all that I put in – and more.”
After completing two diplomas at George Brown College, CBU’s BET degree is a natural stepping stone in John’s educational path and he plans to continue his education. “This degree is a foundation to build on,” says John. “I intend to continue my studies and obtain a Master’s degree (or 2).”
John says he is thrilled to have completed his degree at CBU, as the faculty are amazing. Above all, John says, “I am proud to say I’m a CBU graduate on so many levels!!!”
