#CBUstaycation Challenge – Attend a Pow Wow in a First Nation Community

Did you know that pow wow’s are celebrations that showcase Indigenous culture? It’s a dynamic, and fun, way to learn more about the traditional dances and ways of the Mi’kmaw people in Nova Scotia, and beyond.

Traditionally a community feast is involved and the rhythmic drumming is intended to unite the community in a respectful way.

Often during a pow wow a fire is lit at the beginning and kept burning until the pow wow is complete. That can mean that firekeepers must tend to the fire all night long. That’s dedication!

What to expect:

Beautiful traditional dance

Traditional drumming and singing
