#CBUstaycation Challenge – Check out where the Blacksmith works at the LeNoir Forge Museum

It doesn’t come as a shock to anyone from Cape Breton that our island is filled with history, right? From the Fortress of Louisbourg to the Miners Museum to the LeNoir Forge Museum! What is a Forge? You may ask. Well, a Forge is where a Blacksmith works. And for those who don’t know, a Blacksmith is someone who creates and repairs various things using iron.

The LeNoir Forge was built in 1793 and is still operating! It’s known to be one of the oldest stone buildings in Cape Breton. Another great piece of information to know about the Forge is that every second Saturday throughout the summer they hold a Farmers Market with a lot of local craftsman.
